The Kingdom of Morocco, situated at the North West tip of Africa and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, covers an area of 710,850 km2. The population exceeds 30 million, children under the age of 15 representing 31 % of the population. Morocco faces the problems typical of developing countries; 19% of the population living below the poverty line and up to 50% being illiterate. Only 16% of the population has health care insurance.
